Club Notes – 27th February

Last Wednesday night the 27th of February we had the judging of our 4th competition of the year where the theme was

‘Environmental Portraiture’.

Some great photos were on display and well done to our winners on the night

Our chairperson Eileen Quinlan took us through the programme plan for the upcoming months after the judging.

Next Wednesday night the 6th of March we will have Member Trevor O’ Toole giving us a class on Lighting so that will be sure to be a great lesson.

Our beginners classes are finished but will return again so keep an eye on the notes for more details

Club Notes – 20th February

Last Wednesday night the 20th of February we had speaker Denis O’Reilly in with us from Kilkenny Photographic Society talking about his photography. He has his own unique style to photography which he went through in great detail with us on the night and had 2 of his display panel for us to look at one being flower photography and the other Still Life. So we would like to thank Denis for a great presentation on the night.

Next Wednesday night we have the judging of our 4th competition of the year where the theme is ‘Environmental Portraiture’.

Our beginners class will continue for the next few weeks and will run from 8pm to 8.30pm on Wednesday nights in Hayes Hotel at a charge of €5 per night . Thanks to the very experienced Paddy Loughnane for giving the class last week .

Club Notes – 13th February

Last Wednesday night the 13th of February we had a great night in the factory for our Fun with photography night. A big thanks to Lina Simoliuniene for organising the night and our beginners especially had a great time getting to know their cameras and proper settings and everyone did a bit of modeling on the night also!!

Next week we will have speaker Denis O’Reilly in with us from Kilkenny camera club talking about his photography. On the night he will be bringing two of his panels (15 prints in each).One of ‘Flower Photography’ and one of ‘Still Life’ photography so we would love to see everyone in attendance on the night.

Submission of photos for our next competition are due in no later than this Wednesday the 20th of February and the theme is ‘Environmental Portraiture’.

Club Notes – Wednesday 6th Feb 19

Last Wednesday night the 6th of February we had former member and Thurles Native Debbie Hickey in with us to give a presentation on her work.

As well as being an established photographer Debbie is a big music and concert fan which led her into current field of concert photography. She showed us a slide show of her favourite gig photos and also handed round prints of the photos and finished with a Q & A session where she informed the members present of how to deal with low light and her preferred settings and also talked about getting into concert photography so once again a big thanks to Debbie for her time on the night.
Debbie can also lay her hand to all types of photography such as Studio, Wedding, On Location, Products, Portraits, Concerts, Events, Corporate, Macro, Headshots, Portfolios, Photo Manipulation, Photo Restoration.

Next Wednesday night the 13th of February we will be having a practical night so everyone make sure to bring your camera gear. Our Portrait expert Lina Simoliuniene will be leading us through a night where the title is ‘ Fun with Photography’ …so if anyone has unusual costumes of period era style clothes make sure to bring them along and members don’t be shy as we will need many different models on the night .Also if any member have lighting set ups please bring them along too if possible.

Lastly thanks to former member Brendan O Connor for dropping us in dvds about photography and more so Photoshop so if any members are interest in any of them free of charge contact any of the club officials.

Club Notes – Wednesday 30th January

Last Wednesday night the 30th of January we decided to call off our weekly meeting due to the bad weather conditions.

We will return this Wednesday night the 6th of February where we have former member Debbie Hickey coming in to give a talk about her work and show us some of her amazing photos from the different gigs she has photographed over the years so it’s sure to be an enjoyable night.

Our beginners class returns for the next 4 weeks and will run from 7.45pm to 8.25pm on Wednesday nights in Hayes Hotel at a charge of €5 per night .

On behalf of Thurles Camera Club we would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr Liam Perkins, our hard working former treasurer for all his work in the role over the past 11 years. Liam made the job look easy which is a testament to his professionalism and attention to detail in always have his books up to date. He passes on the role to our new treasurer Miriam Bourke who is taking the role in her stride with the help of Sadie Dwyer when needed. So again thanks a million Liam for all your hard work.

Lastly we would like to thank the Tipperary Star for their article about our club in last week’s edition and hopefully it offered a little insight to people who don’t know about our club and what we are about so thanks a million to everyone involved.
