Thurles & District Camera Club

Last week Wednesday February 14th we had the judging of our “Reflections” competition. It was judged by two people earlier in the week and competitions secretary John O’Loughlin had all the comments and scoring and went through each entry.

We plan to have some guests appearing in the coming weeks and all will be notified shortly.Anyone interested in joining our club are welcome along to Hayes Hotel on any Wednesday night@ 8.30pm.Members are requested to bring the camera with them to this week’s meeting

Club Notes – 7th February 2018

    Thurles & District Camera Club

Last week Wednesday February 7th,  Jim Troy gave a session on some settings for some of our new members. We will be holding beginners course commencing in two-weeks time for anyone interested in joining our club. This week we have the judging of our “Reflections” competition. Reminder that our next competition is “Portraiture” which is due for submission on March 7th .

Club Notes – 31st January 2018

Last week Wednesday January 31st we held our AGM.

At the outset the chairman welcomed all present but expressed disappointment that the numbers were on the low side. Leaflets were distributed detailed the events of the last twelve months. After the chairman’s address our treasurer gave a very comprehensive financial report and explained in some detail of the various trends therein. After all, the ensued question were answered a discussion took place on how improvements can be made during the coming months. Every member contributed and some very good suggestions came forward.

Everyone has great praise for our treasurer Liam Perkins who was standing down after many years of service. He managed our finances with the utmost precision to detail and we thank him sincerely. Our secretary Richard Walsh has opted out due to time constraints at the present time and again our thanks to him for all his work
The election of officers was next on agenda and the following is our officer board
Chairman Neil Ryan, Vice Chairperson Eileen Quinlan, Secretary Austeja Simoliúnaite, Treasurer Clodagh Blake.
This week we have the submission of entries for our “Reflection” competition and also all are encouraged to bring in the camera for a practical session

Club Notes – 24th January 2018

Thurles & District Camera Club

Last week we had the judging of the “Still Life” competition Karen O’Hara from Kilkenny Photographic Society who did a splendid job with the judging.

She went through all the images in great detail and gave her opinion on changes that could improve some of them. She answered the numerous questions that followed.

Upon completion of the judging she showed us some of her own work which featured many portraiture images of very high standard.Our thanks to Karen for sharing some of her experience with us.

Club Notes – 17th January 2018

Unfortunately our Trip to Templemore tonight was cancelled tonight due to bad weather conditions!

This coming week Wednesday the 24th of January we have the judging of the “Still Life” competition and we welcome our judge Karen O’Hara from Kilkenny Photographic Society. Our planned trip to Templemore Park last week could not materialize due to the weather conditions and so will be rescheduled for a later date.

The Annual General Meeting is rescheduled for Wednesday January 31st and all members are requested to be in attendance.

It would be appreciated if members submitted any ideas/suggestions this week.
